The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the planning and delivery of major events at one of the UK’s most iconic sporting venues.
As WRU Group Event and Projects Manager, you’ll work closely with the Head of Event Sales and Operations, Event Owners and teams across the WRU Group to plan, coordinate and safely deliver a wide range of events at Principality Stadium.
From international sporting fixtures to major concerts, entertainment and special events, you’ll help ensure every event is expertly planned, professionally delivered and provides an outstanding experience for our customers, partners and visitors.
You’ll build strong relationships with internal teams, Event Owners, promoters, contractors and external agencies, while ensuring event delivery meets relevant legislation, internal procedures and industry best practice.
What you’ll be doing
- Planning and coordinating events in line with the Stadium’s agreed event planning process.
- Producing detailed Event Management Plans and supporting event documentation.
- Working closely with Event Owners and promoters to understand their operational, broadcast, media and entertainment requirements.
- Coordinating internal teams, contractors and statutory agencies to ensure events are appropriately resourced.
- Supporting the safe and effective management of event-day operations across internal and external Stadium areas.
- Working with safety and facilities colleagues to identify and manage event-related risks.
- Supporting planning for stewarding, accreditation, broadcast infrastructure and other key event operations.
- Managing event budgets and costs within agreed parameters.
- Building effective relationships with key stakeholders.
- Managing the delivery of the Principality Stadium Community Events Programme.
- Supporting additional events and special projects as required.
What we’re looking for
Someone with strong event and project management experience who is comfortable working in a high-profile, fast-paced environment.
You’ll ideally bring:
- At least two years’ experience working within a high-profile, multi-purpose venue.
- Experience planning and delivering live sporting and/or entertainment events.
- Strong project management, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience working with internal teams, external contractors and statutory agencies.
- A good understanding of event health and safety requirements.
- Practical knowledge of the Green Guide and Purple Guide.
- Experience working within a commercially focused, safety-led environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to adapt when priorities change.
- Strong Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- An IOSH qualification or similar.
Additional information
- A valid UK driving licence is required for this role.
- The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
- A NEBOSH qualification and Welsh language skills would be advantageous.

Responsible to: Head of Event Sales and Operations
Role Summary
Plan and manage events in line with the WRU Group events strategy, working closely with the Head of Event Sales and Operations and Event Owners to ensure all requirements are effectively coordinated and delivered.
The WRU Group Event and Projects Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination and safe delivery of events, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, internal procedures and industry best practice.
The role will build strong relationships with Event Owners and key stakeholders, while identifying opportunities to continuously improve venue operations, customer experience and the commercial success of the Stadium.
The role will also support the development of other members of the Event Management team, helping to ensure a consistent and high-quality service across all events.
The successful candidate will be capable of delivering events across the Principality Stadium calendar and will have a strong understanding of the operational, logistical and health and safety requirements associated with major sporting and entertainment events.

Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Activities
- Support the Head of Event Sales and Operations (HESO) in delivering the Stadium’s short and long-term event strategy and maintaining a high-quality event management service.
- Develop effective relationships with Event Owners, delivery partners, contractors, statutory agencies and other key stakeholders.
- Work with senior colleagues and Safety Officers to develop flexible and effective venue management plans for events.
- Ensure a bespoke Event Management Plan and supporting documentation is produced for each event.
- Plan and deliver events in line with approved event planning processes, legislation, safety requirements and industry best practice.
- Define service standards and support the Stadium team in delivering an excellent experience for Event Owners, promoters and customers.
- Produce and distribute accurate and timely event documentation using appropriate collaborative working systems.
- Coordinate internal teams, contractors and statutory agencies to ensure events are appropriately resourced, including build and breakdown periods.
- Oversee event-day operations across internal and external areas, ensuring a coordinated approach across the Event Management team.
- Work closely with the Head of Facilities and other relevant colleagues to identify, manage and review event-related health and safety risks, systems and procedures.
- Build a strong understanding of venue hire agreements and support the HESO with commercial and contractual discussions where required.
- Monitor event costs and work within approved budgets as directed by the HESO.
- Liaise with Event Owners to coordinate broadcast, media and event-day entertainment requirements.
- Manage event-specific accreditation arrangements as directed by the HESO.
- Coordinate the operation of Stadium broadcast infrastructure on event days where required.
- Support the planning of event stewarding in conjunction with the Stewarding and Events Manager.
- Manage the administration and delivery of the Principality Stadium Community Events Programme.
- Deliver other events, projects and duties as required to support changing WRU Group priorities.
- Carry out all duties in line with the WRU Group’s values and standards.

Your Experience

- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- IOSH qualification or similar.
- NEBOSH qualification would be advantageous.
- Welsh language skills would be desirable.
