Role Description

The Yard Logistics Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position based at the Poole depot. The Yard Logistics Assistant will support daily yard operations by coordinating vehicle movements, assisting with loading and unloading, and ensuring that goods are stored and staged correctly for dispatch. This role includes maintaining accurate yard and inventory records, checking documentation against deliveries and collections, and liaising with drivers, office staff, and customers to support smooth logistics operations. The Yard Logistics Assistant will help monitor stock levels for yard materials, keep work areas safe and organized, and follow company procedures and health and safety guidelines. The position requires working as part of a close-knit team, responding to operational priorities, and supporting efficient, reliable transport services.

  • Strong Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, colleagues, and customers.
  • Experience or aptitude in Inventory Management and Purchasing to help track yard stock, materials, and supplies accurately.
  • Excellent Organization Skills, including attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy yard environment.
  • Knowledge or experience in Logistics Management, particularly in transport, freight, or yard operations, is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work safely in an outdoor and warehouse/yard setting, including adherence to health and safety procedures.
  • Basic IT skills for using transport management systems, spreadsheets, or inventory software.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in road transport, warehousing, or a similar logistics role is an advantage.
  • Valid forklift or other relevant yard equipment certificates are beneficial but not essential.
