Job Purpose

We are seeking a motivated Yard Operative to join our dynamic team. The primary role is to ensure that all instructions received from the Service Manager are executed in a timely and effective manner, contributing to the smooth operation of our yard and workshop.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in the Yard and Workshop at all times.
  • Assist engineering staff and the Service Manager with fleet and ancillary preparations as needed.
  • Assemble, repair, and test extension cables.
  • Conduct thorough off-hire inspections of all fleet, noting any damages and completing the necessary paperwork in full.
  • Load and unload fleet and materials using a fork lift truck (FLT) when required.
  • Help maintain depot stock levels, minimising waste or loss.
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to manage your own time and productivity, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Assist with maintenance or installations on-site as required.
  • Attend training sessions as necessary to perform duties effectively.
  • Work in accordance with company-approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Work additional hours (overtime) as reasonably required by the business.
  • Adhere to current Health & Safety Legislation.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential.
  • Fork Lift Truck (FLT) certification is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and undergo training.
  • Good communication skills.
