About The Role
Based at Pimbo Industrial Estate in Skelmersdale, this full-time Yard Operative role with Pertemps Warrington supports a construction engineering and temporary works company. Working Monday to Thursday 08:00–16:30 and Friday 08:00–15:30, the successful candidate reports to the Yard Foreman, assisting with loading and unloading, completing risk assessments, and keeping yard and warehouse areas tidy. Reliability, safety awareness and teamwork are essential, alongside the ability to follow instructions and help meet hire and sales targets. The position offers £12.71 per hour on a temporary-to-permanent contract, giving the right person a route into stable employment within a hands-on industrial setting.

Contract: Temp-perm
Our client, a construction engineering and temporary works company, are currently recruiting for a reliable Yard Operative on a temporary to permanent basis.
Reporting to the Yard Foreman, you will be responsible for ensuring yard operations run smoothly by assisting with loading and unloading, carrying out necessary risk assessments, and keeping the yard and warehouse in a tidy condition at all times.
Responsibilities
As a Yard Operative, your duties will be:
- Assist in achieving/exceeding hire and sales targets.
- Ensure that instructions are carried out safely in line with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.
- Ensure that PPE is worn at all times when working in the yard or on site.
- Deal courteously with customers/visitors and drivers, ensuring they report to the Branch office upon arrival.
- Ensure that Branch Risk Assessments and safe systems of work are fully complied with.
- Ensure that all deliveries/returns match with the accompanying paperwork.
- Ensure the safe loading/unloading of equipment, carrying out the necessary Risk Assessments.
- Ensure the yard and warehouse are kept in a tidy condition at all times and that materials are stored in the correct place, reporting any shortages to the Yard Foreman.
- Booking stock back in the yard and checking paperwork.
- Checking and counting small components.
- Separating components back into stock ready to be picked again.
- Working outside in the yard in all weathers.

Requirements
The successful Yard Operative will have the following skills:
- Experience within a busy yard/warehouse environment.
- Good work ethic.
- Attention to detail.
- Good appreciation of Health & Safety.
- Experience of working in a team environment.
- Able to work outside in all weather conditions.
