Peppard Building Supplies Ltd is an established, family owned and run Builders’ Merchant, located just north of Reading. We supply a large range of building materials to our customers through collections or delivery using our modern fleet of goods delivery vehicles.

Peppards are recruiting for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join us as a Yard Operative. They will play a vital part in achieving the Company goals. Providing the highest level of customer service and care, experienced in a Trade and outside Yard environment and be a confident Counterbalance forklift driver dealing with a range of building materials, the role will be exciting and challenging, enabling role holder to put their own positive mark on the business.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assisting customers in selecting and loading building materials, providing knowledgeable advice.
  • Picking and packing stock for our own deliveries and loading our own vehicles.
  • Unloading supplier vehicles, checking goods in and putting stock away.
  • Operate our mixed fleet of diesel and electric, multi-directional and Teletruck FLTs and loading shovel; training will be provided where necessary.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of yards and warehouses, ensuring a safe and organised working environment.
  • Maintain forklifts and plant daily and cleaning weekly.
  • Participating in wider company activities to support all other Teams.
  • Contributing to the overall growth plan by being an active member of the business.

Requirements

  • Experience within a Builders Merchants or similar Trade Environment.
  • Ability to safely operate manual handling equipment and adhere to manual handling safety procedures.
  • Have excellent customer service skills.
  • Have a good work ethic and attitude.

Hours

0730 to 1700 Monday to Friday with alternate Saturdays 0800 to 1200.
