Yard Operator
Location: Telford
Salary: £13.00 per hour
Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full-time
Hough Green Garage is a market leader in the provision of 24-hour Breakdown and Recovery Services, with over 40 years of industry experience. We operate 365 days a year, supporting Local Authorities, Emergency Services, Motoring Organisations, private companies, and members of the public on a national basis.
The Role
As a Yard Operator, you will play an integral role within a wider team, helping to deliver a consistently high standard of service without compromise.
Key Responsibilities and Skills
- Working as part of a team to support the successful and efficient day-to-day operation of the depot.
- Providing a consistently high level of customer service.
- Ensuring all company procedures, policies, and relevant legislation are followed.
- Promoting and maintaining a strong Health & Safety culture throughout the depot.
- Ensuring all depot processes and procedures are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Communicating clearly and effectively with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensuring all documentation and personal information is handled securely and in accordance with the company’s GDPR policies.
- Supporting the general organisation, administration, and day-to-day running of the depot.
- Prioritising tasks effectively to meet operational requirements and deadlines.

The Person
We Are Looking For Someone Who
- Is commercially aware and understands the costs and implications associated with decision-making.
- Works well under pressure and can effectively manage competing priorities.
- Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Has exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and people skills.
- Is proactive, innovative, and able to use their initiative.
- Has a positive attitude and leads by example at all times.
- Works well as part of a team while also being capable of working independently.
- Has previous experience operating a forklift truck.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications
The following would be advantageous:
- Knowledge or experience within the automotive industry.
- A clean, valid driving licence.
- Towing entitlement.
- A valid forklift truck licence.
- Good geographical knowledge and awareness of the local area.
