Role Description
The Yard Person role is a full-time, on-site position based in London. The Yard Person will be responsible for organizing and maintaining the yard, including the safe parking, positioning, and storage of access equipment and associated tools. Daily tasks include checking machinery upon return, carrying out basic cleaning and minor maintenance, and preparing equipment for hire or dispatch to customer sites. The role involves assisting with loading and unloading vehicles, ensuring correct use of lifting and securing equipment, and maintaining clear, safe walkways and work areas. The Yard Person will also support the operations team with stock checks, yard housekeeping, and occasional support to drivers and engineers, while following all health and safety procedures.

- Experience working in a yard, warehouse, or similar environment, with strong organizational and equipment-handling skills.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with powered access equipment, forklifts, telehandlers, or similar machinery (training can be provided).
- Understanding of health and safety practices, including safe lifting, manual handling, and working around heavy equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and collaborate effectively with drivers, engineers, and office staff.
- Good communication skills and a reliable, proactive approach to daily tasks and changing priorities.
- Valid driver’s license; experience operating yard vehicles or plant machinery is an advantage.
- Previous experience in access equipment, construction, or lifting services is beneficial but not essential.
