Job: Yard Person

Contract: Permanent

Based: Strood, Kent

Hours: 40 Hours per week, Monday to Friday. 6am - 2.30pm

Channel Commercials PLC is a leading commercial vehicle dealer providing sales, parts and servicing for DAF Trucks, light commercial vehicles and vans in the South-East. An opportunity has arisen at our Strood depot for a Yard Person.

This role will support the Strood site with the collection, delivery and parking of company and customer vehicles, and monitoring of vehicles on-site to ensure vehicles are parked safely and yard space is maximised.

  • Booking in vehicles
  • Brake Tests (full training will be given)
  • Liaising with visitors, customers and staff to ensure safe parking is adhered to at all times:-
    • Providing guidance on relocation of vehicles as necessary
    • Maximising use of yard space in accordance with site parking rules
    • Ensuring vehicles parked on site are not restricting access at any time
  • Manoeuvring vehicles in and out of the workshop in a timely manner to ensure they are available for the Technicians to work on.
  • Checking of vehicles before returning to customer
  • Ensuring yard and recycling areas are kept clean and tidy

  • Previously worked in a role driving HGVs and commercial vehicles
  • Self-disciplined
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to use own initiative and work alone without supervision

  • Good face to face communication skills

Desirable Qualities include:

  • Previous experience of a Yard Person role
  • Experience of dealing with customers
