07:00-17:00 Monday to Friday

Are you an experienced Supervisor or Team Leader with a background in waste, recycling, quarrying, or another industrial environment?
Do you have strong experience managing yard-based operations, coordinating teams, and maintaining high standards of Health & Safety?
Would you enjoy a hands-on role with responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy operational yard?

Our client, is a well-established, family-run business based in Morecambe, Lancashire, specialising in the processing of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal for both domestic and international markets.
This is a hands-on supervisory role where you will be responsible for coordinating the yard team, allocating workloads, managing traffic and ensuring that all operations are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the yard in line with management plans and operational objectives.
- Manage, coordinate, and allocate work to yard operatives to ensure workloads are completed efficiently.
- Direct traffic within the yard and work closely with the weighbridge to ensure all loads are loaded and unloaded safely and efficiently.
- Check incoming and outgoing deliveries for quality and compliance.
- Ensure all loads are correctly documented through the weighbridge.
- Monitor yard activities to ensure they are carried out in accordance with the Yard Management System.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety across the yard and ensure procedures are followed by all employees.
- Ensure environmental controls and procedures are maintained across the site.
- Identify and address operational issues quickly and effectively.
- Work closely with management to ensure the yard operates efficiently and meets business objectives.
- Support and lead the yard team, promoting a positive and professional working environment.

Requirements:
- Previous supervisory or management experience within a busy operational environment.
- Experience within the waste management industry is essential.
- Experience within scrap metal, recycling, quarrying, aggregates, or a similar industrial environment would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety within a yard or industrial setting.
- Experience coordinating teams, allocating workloads, and managing day-to-day operations.
- Good understanding of environmental regulations and workplace compliance.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A hands-on approach with the confidence to work alongside operational teams.
- Health & Safety and/or environmental qualifications would be advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding operational environment.
