Internal Controls Placement
Are you looking for first-hand experience on how a Group Finance function operates in a global FTSE100 company? Are you interested in how a global business stays resilient, compliant, and well-governed? Would you like a career in finance but want some varied exposure before committing to a specialism?
This ‘Year in Industry’ placement within the Group Finance Internal Controls team offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced Group Finance function supporting global operations.
As part of this role, you’ll be collaborating with corporate and operational finance colleagues across varied business functions, whilst directly contributing to risk management across the Group. Alongside the opportunity to travel to UK sites to experience how the wider business operates, you’ll develop skills in business partnering, governance, and operational improvement.
Ideal for students who are inquisitive, detail-oriented, and eager to understand how strong financial processes underpin business success. This placement sets the foundation for a career in all aspects of finance, audit, or risk management. You’ll also have a unique opportunity to drive your own development and explore areas of interest (such as tax, treasury, and financial planning & analysis).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
