We have an exciting opportunity to join Birmingham City Council within our innovative Parks and Greenspaces Service. The service plays a key role in delivering the City of Nature Strategy and maintaining Birmingham's reputation as the UK's first recognised "Nature City".
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Year Out Landscape Architecture Student to join our Parks and Greenspaces Development Team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience working alongside experienced Landscape Architects on a wide range of projects that improve and enhance the city's parks and green spaces.
What You'll Do
- Assist Landscape Architects in the preparation and delivery of landscape projects.
- Produce base plans, sketch layouts, design details, and planting schedules.
- Prepare specifications and health and safety documentation in line with CDM Regulations.
- Create presentation drawings and visual materials for committees, exhibitions, and public meetings.
- Support site surveys and help record and analyse survey information.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the Parks and Greenspaces Development Team.
- Contribute to the design and development of projects that enhance Birmingham's public spaces and natural environment.
- Gain experience working within a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality landscape schemes.

About You
- Hold a degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent.
- Passionate about creating attractive, sustainable, and inclusive landscapes.
- Proficient in producing plans, drawings, and presentation materials.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities.
- A strong communicator with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Keen to learn from experienced professionals and develop practical landscape architecture skills.
- Comfortable working both in the office and on-site as required.
