Young Parent Midwife
The Young Parent Midwife will contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality maternity services in line with professional standards, local priorities, and national government policy, with a particular focus on supporting young parents and reducing teenage pregnancy-related health inequalities.
The post holder will provide safe, effective, and evidence-based midwifery care to young pregnant people and their families throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
- Key aspects of the role:
- Promoting the health, wellbeing, and social welfare of young parents through education, health promotion, and the provision of advice and support.
- Working collaboratively with specialist midwives, multidisciplinary teams, and partner agencies to improve outcomes for young families and contribute to reducing health inequalities within the local population.
- Playing an active role in safeguarding children and young people, exercising professional judgement to identify concerns, promote welfare, and initiate appropriate actions to minimize the risk of harm.
- Contributing to the creation of a positive learning environment, acting as a role model, mentor, and source of support for student midwives, newly qualified midwives, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
