Job Description
Youth Employment Advisor
Regional Office Worker - Site & Community based (Covering Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire)
Salary: Starting from £31,000 per annum + Package
About the Role
Are you a youth professional who knows how to build trust, create safe spaces and help young people take their next steps? As a Youth Employment Advisor, you’ll use your experience of working with young people to help them build confidence, overcome barriers and move towards meaningful work.
This is a role for someone who understands youth engagement first and employability second: someone who can meet young people where they are, keep them motivated when progress is difficult and translate their strengths, interests and lived experience into realistic opportunities.
- Build trusted relationships with young people through outreach, regular contact and youth-focused assessments that understand their goals, strengths, interests and barriers.
- Turn youth work into progression by creating personalised action plans that build confidence, resilience, employability skills and readiness for work at the young person’s pace.
- Connect young people to the right opportunities, working with employers to create positive starts, manage expectations and support young people to sustain work once they get there.
- Recognise and respond to barriers by linking young people with the right support around wellbeing, safeguarding, housing, finance, transport, family responsibilities or other challenges affecting progression.
- Work as part of a wider youth support network with employers, schools, community organisations, youth services and specialist partners.
- Keep accurate records and capture progress, showing the distance travelled by young people as well as their employment outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
