The Role
We are looking to recruit 1 Full-time Youth Engagement Officer to work as part of the Youth Engagement provision (YEP) to deliver interventions to support Young People aged 16-24 who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET), to access opportunities in education, employment and training.
This role is centred on empowering young people aged 16-24 who are economically inactive, unemployed or individuals who are not in education, employment or training to enable their integration into mainstream employment and training opportunities.
The Youth Engagement Officer role involves working within our Youth Engagement Provision, providing a range of services to our target audience, with the ultimate objective of supporting these individuals into employment, training or educational opportunities.
The Youth Engagement Officers will recruit and support young people facing barriers to employment or engagement in training, playing a key role in providing intensive and wraparound support to individuals guiding them towards mainstream provision and employment. The Youth Engagement Officers will create personalised action plans with participants to help them overcome their barriers to advance their entry into the workforce.
Working closely with employers and skills sectors, the role-holder will identify employment opportunities which align with the needs and aspirations of participants and the local labour market. They will possess current knowledge of 15-25yrs developments, encompassing skills and work-related learning and Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) education. Combined with good knowledge of labour market information, they will inform the creation of tailored employability programs, actively involving participants in the process.
The employability program will lead to quality, structured opportunities including work experience placements, employer taster sessions, designed to progress participants into suitable employment or training pathways. The role holder will be responsible for thorough follow-up work with participants and employers to address any ongoing support needs, ensuring sustained success.
The role holder needs to be committed to facilitating employment, education and training opportunities for people for whom Health Conditions, Special Educational Needs (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) issues present a barrier to employment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
