Youth Justice Officer
We are currently seeking a Youth Justice Officer to join our East Area Team, based in Scarborough. The successful applicant will need to be committed, flexible and creative, with positive engagement skills gained through previous experience of working with children.
Early Help
Early Help works alongside children, their families and partner agencies to support their identified needs. Our work is strength-based and underpinned by our ‘Strength in Relationships’ practice model supporting children and their families to create their own sustainable plans that really make a difference. We provide interventions to children, and their families, drawing on their strengths and helping to build support networks.
About The Service
Our Youth Justice Service is an established and successful countywide multi-agency partnership, responsible for preventing and reducing youth crime, protecting the public from serious harm, safeguarding the welfare of children whilst facilitating restorative justice interventions to victims and communities. The team is committed to providing high-quality services to children in the criminal justice system, their parents, and to the victims of crime.

About The Role
The successful applicant will manage a varied caseload of children, ensuring that each of them receives high standards of assessment and intervention, and that our safeguarding and public protection duties are fully met. You will have opportunities to explore new areas of practice, including Signs of Safety, Family Finding, Systemic Practice, and restorative justice.
The Youth Justice Service operates an electronic case management system, so applicants must be able to maintain high standards of professional casework within a structured assessment framework. This includes strong case-recording abilities and confident keyboard skills.
If you are enthusiastic, highly motivated, passionate, and experienced in supporting vulnerable children, their families, and the wider community, and committed to ensuring they receive exceptional support, this role will be a great fit for you.

It is an exciting time in Children and Young People’s Services in North Yorkshire as we plan our approach in respect of the Families First Partnership Programme and respond to national social care reforms. Work is underway to shape future delivery models through to 2027 and, as a result, some realignment of roles may take place.
