Youth Justice Team Leader
Hackney, London (Hybrid Working Available)
£35.12 per hour PAYE / £47.33 per hour Umbrella
Full Time | Locum Contract
Connect2Hackney are recruiting for an experienced Youth Justice Team Leader to join Hackney Council's Youth Justice Service.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing multi-agency Youth Justice team committed to reducing youth offending, safeguarding vulnerable young people, and improving outcomes for children, families and communities across the borough.
As Team Leader, you will provide operational leadership and professional supervision to Youth Justice Practitioners, ensuring high-quality assessments, interventions and court-related services are delivered in line with statutory requirements and National Standards for Youth Justice. You will work collaboratively with partner agencies including Police, Probation, Courts, Health and Education services to support children and young people involved in the youth justice system.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Youth Justice Practitioners and multi-agency staff.
- Oversee complex youth justice casework, interventions, court reports and custody processes.
- Ensure effective risk management, safeguarding and public protection arrangements are in place.
- Provide professional supervision, quality assurance and performance management.
- Chair multi-agency meetings, panels and case discussions.
- Work strategically to reduce re-offending and prevent young people entering custody.
- Represent the service in Youth Court, Police Stations and partnership forums.
- Support service development, workforce development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- A recognised professional qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Probation or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Registration with the relevant professional body where applicable.
- Significant operational management experience within Youth Justice services.
- Strong knowledge of Youth Justice legislation, policy and National Standards.
- Experience using ASSET, ASSET Plus and other youth justice assessment tools.
- Proven ability to manage risk, vulnerability and safeguarding concerns effectively.
- Experience supervising and developing staff within a complex practice environment.
- Excellent partnership working, communication and leadership skills.
