Support Worker - Young People’s Housing Services
Empowering independence, building futures
Full Time | 37.5 hours | £26,853 | Hemel Hempstead
Join our supportive team helping young people - including separated migrant children - build independence and move confidently toward their future. We create an inclusive and respectful environment where each young person feels understood, supported and empowered.
The Role
- Build trusting, compassionate relationships
- Provide trauma-informed support and promote life skills
- Encourage independence rather than personal care
- Maintain clear records and follow support plans
- Lone work when needed and collaborate with colleagues and agencies

You are caring, adaptable and confident communicating with young people from diverse backgrounds. You value inclusion, work well both independently and as part of a team, and are committed to person-centred support and continuous learning.

Essential Criteria
- Full UK driving licence with business insurance and access to a vehicle for business use
- You must commit to starting a Level 4 or equivalent Children, Young People & Families Practitioner Workforce Diploma within one year of joining
- You must sign up to the DBS Update Service
- Ability to work as part of a 25-hour rota, including weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins (for sleep-ins you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £52.78).

This role involves working with young people, including those aged 16 and 17. The successful candidate must always maintain appropriate professional boundaries and understand their responsibilities in relation to positions of trust.
All appointments are subject to satisfactory right to work, enhanced DBS, reference and medical clearances. Successful candidates will be required to join the DBS Update Service, with the subscription cost reimbursed by Hightown.
We will be shortlisting and interviewing on an ongoing basis so may close the vacancy early.
