Youth Worker

Young Hackney Service | London Borough of Hackney £17.79 per hour PAYE | £23.97 per hour Umbrella

Are you passionate about empowering young people to achieve their full potential? Young Hackney is looking for enthusiastic, engaging, and dedicated Youth Workers to support the delivery of high-quality youth programmes across Hackney. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people by helping them develop confidence, skills, resilience, and positive life outcomes.

About the Role As a Youth Worker within Young Hackney, you will help deliver a range of open access and targeted youth work programmes through youth hubs, schools, and community settings. You'll build positive relationships with young people, support their personal development, and encourage participation in activities that promote health, wellbeing, education, and future employment opportunities.

You will:

  • Deliver engaging youth work sessions, activities, and projects.
  • Support young people to build confidence, develop skills, and make positive life choices.
  • Engage with young people who may be vulnerable or harder to reach.
  • Promote safeguarding and wellbeing at all times.
  • Work alongside schools, community organisations, children's services, and partner agencies.
  • Contribute to programmes that are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to the needs of Hackney's diverse communities.
  • Support outreach and community-based engagement activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring outcomes.

About You We're looking for candidates who have:

  • Experience delivering youth work, youth participation, or informal education programmes.
  • A passion for supporting young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and the challenges facing young people today.
  • The ability to engage positively with young people, including those presenting challenging behaviours.
  • A creative, resilient, and adaptable approach to youth work.
  • Experience working within diverse urban communities is highly desirable.

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS check required.
