What does it take to make an AI that designs, simulates, and draws a waste gasification plant — and hands a fabricator a file no human had to redraw? We are far from that, but that is the goal. The bigger one: AI that helps us deliver solutions turning waste into clean power and high-quality gas. This is a Zero-X Engineering CAD and AI internship with Zero-X — an engineering company turning waste into clean power. Zero-X was named to Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies, Energy, 2018; funded by PTJ (Projekträger Jülich, the German federal research agency); and runs a PhD track across multiple universities including TU Munich, the Fraunhofer Institute, and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). We just finished managing project Cometha ('Waste to Methane') for the City of Paris. Real execution on a live system — the proof employers hire on. Everyone has a degree. Almost nobody has proof.
What you build
Not a task list. The thing you build.
- We are currently manufacturing the first container-based waste gasification unit.
- Tar reforming, gas conversion, and gas upgrades to methane or hydrogen are still open topics.
- You work on the generative CAD pipeline.
A waste gasification component layout turned into a 3D part tree and drawing set is the core file you produce. The component layout for the first container-based waste gasification unit is the input on your desk. A drawing set another person can send to a manufacturer without you in the room is the output you are on the hook for. A CAD model or simulation of one of the key components is the artefact you leave ready for the next person.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The bar
- A CAD model or simulation of one of our key components, produced outside coursework, sits in your repository.
- A drawing set another person can send to a manufacturer without you in the room is the floor.
- You can name what broke in a model made outside coursework.
- You stayed with a hard CAD problem until the part tree was clean.
Who this is for
Creative changemakers with a degree in engineering, physics, or data analytics who understand that AI is here now, and that most university graduates have barely scratched the surface of what is possible today — and tomorrow. You work until the drawing set is clean.
Where you do it — and why here
Thirty years building companies — New York, London, Tokyo, the Valley — and then it stopped mattering where the work happened. So the program runs on-site in Canggu. A modern company costs twelve people and a toolchain — so being wrong six times a year is part of how we build. The campus is 4,000 sqm, and the people who run the companies are on it every day. Epic Solutions PT runs the on-site program here. Monday reset, Friday ship — send what you made. Everything you made last week is worthless, and that is the freedom: you are not married to it. One cohort, on-site, the full phase — not remote. What this location buys is attention, not a view.

Terms
Unpaid under Indonesian law. A room is available on campus — rent paid by you. Epic Solutions PT hosts the on-site program and assists with the C22B internship visa process; the visa fee is yours. Daily lunch on us. Starting September. Questions about the fit or the timeline? Tell us — we'll talk you through how the program actually runs.
Requirements
- A degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent — proof you can finish something.
- Not what you know, but how fast you learn — you move between domains and stay calm when the map goes useless.
- You have made something nobody asked for.
- AI is the stack, not hand-written code — Claude Code, Hermes, Codex; the skill is driving them and catching what they get wrong.
- On-site, the full phase.

Closing
A finished CV was never the point. What counts is a thing you've built and the drive to build the next one. That is who we are looking for.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
