Leading a team of 6+ Business Analysts in multiple locations. Providing mentoring and leadership to the team. Onboarding of new team members, encouraging development of existing team members. Escalation point for internal queries. Work with internal colleagues and external suppliers to deliver high quality, robust solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Team Management: holiday, expenses and absence management duties, including disciplinary / grievance resolution and yearly performance reviews.
  • Team mentoring and leadership – training and shaping the team to strive for excellence.
  • Onboarding of new team members and encouraging the development of existing team members.
  • Providing an escalation path for the business for issues / queries.
  • Managing the allocation, prioritisation and progression of tasks.
  • Utilising Service Desk systems to maintain SLA’s, with root cause analysis where necessary.
  • Providing a high level of customer service.
  • Liaising with business stakeholders and IT Leadership Team to provide updates on projects and issues.
  • Ensuring team adherence to Group IT policies and procedures
  • Undertake and plan project activities for the development-implementation of new clients, sites, applications enhancements and upgrades:
    • Business & system analysis & design, development, system testing for warehouse management systems, transport management systems and EDI integration.
    • Analyses project activities / enhancement requests for both business and technical producing proposal/design documents for peer-review.
    • Involves liaising with both technical (internal and external) and business contacts
    • Investigates operational needs and problems, and opportunities, recommending improvements
    • Specifies user/system interfaces and translates logical designs into physical designs taking account of target environment, performance requirements and existing systems. Produces detailed designs and documents all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate.
    • Adherence to Project Management Process and project approval process.
    • Assists in identifying and assessing risks to the success of the project.
    • Prepares and controls project and quality plans and tracking activities against the plans.
    • Lead the IT work stream during the UAT phase supporting both internal colleagues and external clients to ensure successful completion to deadline.
  • Proactive time management required and adherence to deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and relationship builder.
  • Ability to build good relationships with key business contacts
  • Pro-active support to minimize downtime to live applications. i.e. by identifying and resolving underlying issues and liaising with external vendors as required.
  • Gain a full and complete understanding of the business so that practical and effective support is supplied to the user and all business areas are fully supported within the service level agreements.
  • Liaise with IT Helpdesk, Infrastructure and Development Teams to ensure the system can be implemented in the live environment with the necessary backup & disaster recovery procedures in place.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience of developing business systems, ideally Warehouse Management – Systems
  • Experience of four or more full project life cycle implementations and be able to demonstrate that you played a key role in these implementations.
  • Experience of deploying solutions to a multi-site environment
  • Demonstrable experience of both developing business and technical solutions ideally using ERP technologies.
  • Understanding of EDI message formats - Tradacoms / EDIFACT / XML / IDOC / X12
  • Understanding of Communication protocols - AS2 / HTTP / FTP / FTPs / VAN (GXS) / Webservices
  • Understanding of databases – e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, MS Access. Query/Reporting Tools such as Crystal Reports
  • Good management, interpersonal and team skills.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with users, and to both train and write documentation in non-technical language
  • Must be capable of participating in concurrent multiple projects
  • Self starting attitude and positive approach to work.
  • Structured way of working and methodical, collaborative approach.
