This is an exciting opportunity for an apprentice dental nurse to join a friendly practice. The role will involve providing chairside support and a high level of oral health care to patients, starting an exciting career in dental nursing.
Requirements
- GCSE or equivalent in English (grade 4)
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths (grade 4)
- A passion and desire to work within the dental sector is essential and to not be put off at the sight of blood.
- Research public transport routes to ensure regular service availability.
- A course of Hepatitis B vaccines is required.
- A clear enhanced DBS check is required.

Responsibilities
- Assisting the dentist in providing safe and effective treatments to patients.
- Providing patients with a high level of care.
- Setting up and cleaning surgery.
- Sterilising instruments.
- Updating patient records.
- Maintaining equipment.
- Preparing instruments and materials for various treatments.
- Adhering to practice policies and procedures.
- The use of VR Technology.
- Assist the Dentist by providing chairside support ensuring that the correct equipment and materials are available.
- Provide support and assistance to a wide array of patients.
- Follow practice health and safety and infection control procedures.
- Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and disinfected.
- Accurately complete patient clinical records.
- Complete all clinical daily, weekly and monthly logs and checks.
Benefits
- Wage: £14,722.50 to £23,809.50, depending on your age (National Minimum Wage)
- Training course: Dental nurse (GDC 2023) (level 3)
- Hours: Monday - 08:30 - 17:30 (1 hour lunch), Tuesday 08:30 - 17:30 (1 hour lunch), Wednesday 08:30 - 19:00 (1 hour lunch), Thursday 08:30 - 17:30 (1 hour lunch), Friday 08:30 - 16:00 (1 hour lunch). (37 hours 30 minutes a week)
- Start date: Monday 30 March 2026
- Duration: 1 year 6 months

Application Process
- Most of your apprenticeship is spent working, gaining hands-on experience.
- Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training.
- Study to gain professional knowledge and skills.
- Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the relevant qualification to apply for professional registration as a dental nurse to the General Dental Council (GDC).
- After this apprenticeship, there are routes for further training and development, including dental hygienist, dental therapist or dental cosmetics.
- Opportunity for career progression into head nurse, team leader, or practice manager.
