An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Nutrition and Dietetic Department at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust for a motivated individual to join our Dietetic team in a split outpatient and community role. The post supports the Gastroenterology dietetic outpatient service three days per week, primarily working with patients that have IBS and coeliac disease. Two days per week will be supporting the Home Enteral Feeding Team, delivering high quality nutrition support to patients receiving enteral feeding in their homes.

This role is suitable for newly qualified dietitians, as well as more experienced dietitians looking to work in a different setting. This role is for a fixed term 18 month contract but there is potential for this to become a permanent position.

Requirements

  • BSc / MSc Nutrition and Dietetics (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration (or registration pending in the next eight months).
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
  • Completion of the Clinical Supervisory Skills training course (Desirable).
  • Experience of providing oral and enteral nutrition support to patients in an NHS (or equivalent) setting.
  • Exposure to dietary advice for coeliac disease and first line IBS.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, relatives, healthcare professionals and relevant stakeholders.
  • Experience of providing dietary advice for coeliac disease and first line IBS (Desirable).
  • Experience in implementing behaviour change and motivational interviewing techniques (Desirable).
  • Experience of working in/with a multicultural population (Desirable).
  • Confident, caring and empathetic approach.
  • Able to adapt to unpredictable work patterns and frequent interruptions.
  • Strong team-working skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver first line IBS advice and advice for patients with coeliac disease.
  • Provide nutrition support advice for a variety of clinical conditions.
  • Undertake home visits to assess, monitor and support patients receiving enteral nutrition.
  • Take an active role in supporting the student training programme.
