September is an important month for food delivery drivers: as the summer ends and the weather gets worse fees tend to rise. Drivers who are prepared to brave working in the rain and the dark are typically rewarded with higher earnings.

But this year the story is not consistent. Average Order Fees on Uber have indeed risen, by 6.1% since August and 1.1% since last year. However Stuart fees have fallen since August and are now down 17% since last year. Just Eat continues to inch downwards.

*Rodeo estimates based on a sample of hundreds of thousands of orders.

Drivers deserve pay transparency. This means being told how companies calculate pay and when they change their formulas. No one should have to reverse engineer an algorithm to check whether they have been given a pay cut.

Each month we therefore analyse the pay across Uber, Just Eat and Stuart. Deliveroo have not been included because they are attempting to define driver earnings as confidential to Deliveroo.
