Family Help Team Team Leader (Children’s Support - Part Time)

Post: 1 part-time (18.5 hours per week) Location: North-East Derbyshire & Bolsover Contract: Permanent Closing Date: 19 July 2026


An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Family Help Team, Children’s Services Department, for dynamic and committed individuals to provide direct and practical support to children and families with a wide range of complex and challenging needs.

About the Role

This role involves:

  • Building trust and confidence with vulnerable families
  • Improving and maintaining the independence of children and families
  • Supporting parents/carers to manage their child’s routines
  • Influencing sustained changes to improve and enhance quality of life
  • Collaborating with colleagues to deliver provision that meets children’s and families’ needs
  • Motivating and inspiring parents/carers to address concerns about neglect
  • Working closely with the Family Help Team while adhering to safeguarding procedures

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Compiling action plans with measurable targets to coordinate support for families working across multiple partner agencies.
  • Tracking individual child progress and measuring developmental milestones and school readiness.
  • Delivering evidenced-based intervention programs such as:
    • Every Child a Talker (ECaT) for children at risk of developmental delay.
    • Parenting programmes like The Solihull Approach and Understanding Your Child.
  • Providing advice and signposting to parents/carers.
  • Maintaining clear, concise, and accurate records in the council’s recording systems.
  • Writing detailed reports, including safeguarding case conference reports, to gather evidence and ensure safe decision-making.

  • Strong enthusiasm, versatility, and self-motivation, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and proactive collaboration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • A deep understanding of, and strict adherence to, safeguarding procedures.
  • Strong IT skills.
