Qualifications / Experience
📌 Preferred (but not essential):
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of educational strategies and interventions
📌 Required:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs
- 3 years of teaching experience (required)
📌 Certifications:
- Enhanced DBS (preferred)
- Driving licence (required)

Key Responsibilities

Engage and Motivate Students:
- Deliver personalised tutoring sessions
- Tailor sessions to students’ interests, strengths, and needs
- Use creative and innovative teaching strategies, making learning enjoyable and relevant.

Monitor Progress:
- Continuously assess and monitor student progress
- Provide regular feedback to students, parents, and educators.

Collaboration:
- Work closely with parents, teachers, and professionals to support each student’s educational journey.

Support Safe Learning Environment:
- Maintain a supportive and safe environment that encourages confidence and participation.

Flexible Delivery Locations:
- Conduct sessions in schools, family homes, residential homes, or public venues (e.g., libraries).

Support Disengaged Students:
- Provide specialised support to students who are • disengaged from education or non-school attenders
- Foster re-engagement and enjoyment in learning.
Role Details
As an outreach Tutor for Chalkline, you will be considered an agency worker:
- You will not need to register as self-employed unless you prefer it.
- We can work with self-employed applicants if needed.
Hours & Pay
- Tutors are paid for each hour of tutoring delivered
- Assignments (hours required each week) are discussed before sessions begin
- Pay rate increases for tutors traveling outside a reasonable distance from home.

♦ Most sessions focus on Maths & English, but you will adapt your approach to meet individual student needs ♦ Sessions are in-person and 1:1
Time & Location: 📍 Sessions run term-time only, typically between 08:30 & 16:30 📍 Locations include:
- Schools
- Pupils’ homes (or residential care homes)
- Public venues (e.g., libraries, family centres)
📌 Who We Work With:
- Mostly 11–16-year-olds who may be:
- Children in care
- GDP needs
- In need of extra support
Resources Available to Tutors
You will have access to: ✔ Internal Chalkline resources and printables ✔ Platforms like Twinkl and BKSB ✔ Online delivery platforms (if needed): MS Teams, Bramble
Reporting Requirements
You must:
- Submit a timesheet
- Complete detailed reports every Friday for each pupil
- All key documents are shared via Google Drive (sent to a personal Chalkline email address).
