1:1 SEND Tutor - Alternative Provision | Hillingdon

Location: Hillingdon Borough
Job Type: Flexible, Part-Time Opportunities Available
Quantum Scholars is working in partnership with Hillingdon Council to recruit dedicated and experienced 1:1 SEND Tutors to support children and young people accessing Alternative Provision across the borough.
This rewarding opportunity involves delivering personalised, face-to-face tuition to learners who are currently unable to attend mainstream education due to a range of additional needs. Sessions are typically delivered in the learner's home during school hours, providing tailored academic and emotional support that helps pupils rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive educational outcomes.
About The Learners
The young people you will support may have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Anxiety and other mental health needs
- Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
- Medical needs
- Social, emotional and behavioural challenges
- Other additional learning needs

We are looking for tutors who can build positive relationships, adapt their teaching to meet individual needs, and provide a calm, nurturing learning environment where every learner can thrive.
The Role
As a 1:1 SEND Tutor, you will:
- Deliver engaging, personalised tuition sessions in learners' homes
- Support learning in subjects such as English, Maths and Science
- Adapt lessons to suit each learner's ability, interests and educational goals
- Encourage confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning
- Provide academic, emotional and pastoral support where appropriate
- Work flexibly during school hours, Monday to Friday
What We're Looking For
To Be Successful In This Role, You Should Have
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Previous experience as a SEND Tutor, Teacher, Teaching Assistant (TA), Learning Support Assistant (LSA), SEN Teaching Assistant, Mentor, Support Worker, Youth Worker, or in a similar role
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs
- A patient, empathetic and flexible approach
- An Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
- The right to work in the UK
