Job Title: Higher Level Needs Assistant

Salary: £18,221 - £18,510 per annum

Hours: 30 hpw

Location: Pitmaston Primary School

Temporary - To meet the needs of a specific child whilst they remain at the school

The Governing Body and Headteacher at Pitmaston Primary School are looking to appoint a caring, committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Needs Teaching and Learning Assistant to support one of our pupils in lower KS2 with additional needs.

We are seeking to employ an experienced teaching and learning assistant who has previously worked with pupils with SEND. An understanding of the curriculum across the age ranges in a primary school would be an advantage.

You will be responsible for supporting learning and progress, following guidance from staff and external agencies. You will deliver focused provision to specifically meet the needs of the child and will work alongside existing staff.

As an Outstanding large primary school you will be joining a strong team of staff where you will be supported with the help of a mentor and ongoing CPD. You will need to be proactive in your approach, kind and caring and work well as part of a team. We are a THRIVE based school and a Mentally Healthy Trauma Informed School and this ethos runs throughout our school where children and adults respect each other. You will need to be calm and patient, yet consistent and clear in your communication both with the children and parents/carers.

The main areas of responsibility include:

  • Supporting a child with their learning experiences meeting their individual needs.
  • Delivering focused provision and support to enhance and extend children’s learning and progress under the guidance of external agencies and the class teacher.
  • Support the child to meet their personal targets on the provision map.
  • Personalising resources to ensure they are accessible to the child you are working with.
  • Ensure you are clear about intended learning outcomes and how these may be achieved.
  • Support the child to ensure they have access to a range of learning opportunities.
  • Support the child to develop an understanding of routines and expectations within the class.
  • Build a strong relationship with the child and engage them in activities that increase their self-esteem, social skills and understanding of emotions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
