1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Doncaster

Are you a compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant looking for rewarding opportunities across Doncaster?

Academics are recruiting dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs within welcoming mainstream primary schools throughout Doncaster. This temporary, ongoing supply role offers flexibility while allowing you to make a genuine difference to children's education and wellbeing.

Position: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing supply

Pay: £92.56 - £95 per day (paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees)

Start Date: ASAP or a start date that works for you

About the Role

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant in Doncaster, you will provide dedicated support to an individual pupil within a mainstream primary classroom. You may work with children who have Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs or other additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their potential.

The 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant role requires patience, resilience and the ability to build positive relationships while working closely with class teachers, SENCOs and parents to ensure every child receives the support they need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support within a mainstream primary classroom
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
  • Support pupils with EHCP targets and learning plans
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Encourage confidence, independence and engagement
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and support staff
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with SEN within schools or similar settings
  • Understanding of additional needs including ASD, ADHD or SEMH
  • Calm, caring and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
