Role Description
The 11+ Tutor will provide remote, one-to-one and small group tuition to pupils preparing for 11+ entrance exams, including Maths, English, verbal reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning. This is a contract role, with flexible hours scheduled around learner availability and agreed with the agency and families.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

- Planning structured lessons aligned with exam requirements
- Assessing student strengths and areas for improvement
- Setting targeted practice tasks and homework
- Tracking progress
- Providing regular feedback to learners and parents or guardians
- Adapting teaching methods to different learning styles
Additional Tasks
- Preparing and marking practice papers
- Maintaining clear session records
- Collaborating with Tutors Today on best practices and available resources
Qualifications
- Strong subject knowledge in 11+ content areas (Maths, English, verbal reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning) and familiarity with common entrance exam formats.
- Demonstrated ability to explain concepts clearly, break down complex problems, and adapt teaching strategies to individual learning needs.
- Experience in tutoring or teaching school-age learners, ideally with a focus on exam preparation or selective school admissions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional, encouraging, and patient approach to working with students and families.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time effectively, and maintain reliable technology for online sessions (e.g., stable internet, webcam, and digital resources).
- Strong organisational skills for lesson planning, progress tracking, and maintaining accurate records of sessions and student performance.
- Knowledge of the UK education system and 11+ requirements is highly beneficial; prior success supporting learners through entrance exams is an advantage.
- Relevant academic background (e.g., A-levels or degree in a related subject) and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting learner wellbeing.
