11+ Entrance Exam Specialist Tutor
Remote | Self-employed contractor | Flexible hours
We are looking for an experienced and highly knowledgeable 11+ specialist tutor to join our growing tutoring agency. The successful candidate will provide high-quality online tuition to pupils preparing for grammar school and selective school entrance examinations. We are particularly interested in tutors with experience of a range of 11+ examination formats, including GL Assessment, school-specific entrance tests and, ideally, the newer FSCE entrance examination.
This is a self-employed tutoring opportunity, with students referred through our agency. Tutors retain flexibility over the number of pupils they accept and the hours they offer.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, structured and personalised online 11+ tuition
- Prepare pupils for English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning assessments, as applicable
- Identify gaps in pupils’ knowledge and create targeted programmes of study
- Build confidence, accuracy, examination technique and time-management skills
- Adapt tuition to the requirements of individual grammar schools and selective entrance examinations
- Provide clear and constructive feedback to parents
- Set and review appropriate independent work between lessons
- Create or adapt high-quality practice materials where required
- Maintain professional communication and reliable lesson records

Essential requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- At least two years’ experience preparing pupils for 11+ entrance examinations
- Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 2 English and maths curricula
- A proven ability to support pupils preparing for selective school entrance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A professional, organised and dependable approach
- Confidence delivering tuition online
- An enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one
- The right to work on a self-employed basis in the UK
Desirable experience
- Previous experience preparing pupils for FSCE entrance examinations
- Experience creating bespoke entrance-exam questions or practice papers
- A strong track record of grammar school or selective-school entrance success
- Experience working with pupils who have dyslexia, ADHD or other additional learning needs

About the role
This is a flexible, remote opportunity suitable for an experienced teacher or specialist tutor looking to work with carefully matched pupils through an established tutoring agency. Tutors work with us on a self-employed contractor basis and may accept or decline individual student referrals according to their availability and expertise. Tuition is delivered online.
