The Vacancy

Are you an enthusiastic and adaptable Psychology or Social Care student looking for a placement year? Do you want to make a difference in a rewarding, supportive environment? If so, we have a 12 month paid placement for you!

At the Homelessness Prevention Service, we provide practical support for those who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or threatened with homelessness by their current landlord. We work with service users to find alternative, suitable accommodation for themselves and their families.

About The Role

A fast paced role where no two days are the same

As a Support Worker, you’ll work closely with a number of different organisations to help people maintain their tenancy or to seek more permanent accommodation. This could mean working with Social Care, Probation, other Housing providers and Private Landlords, Nottingham Priority Family's Team, Leaving Care Team and many other local organisations. You could be supporting a single person, families or older people and people who have experienced Domestic Abuse and Mental Health.

You will help remove barriers and support people to consider what options are available to them according to their individual situation, using person-centred approaches.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
