1st Team Physical Performance Coach – Manchester City Women’s First Team

Location

Based at the City Football Academy in Manchester


About the Role

This permanent full-time role supports the physical performance of Manchester City Women (MCWFC)’s First Team. You will:

  • Create an engaging, evidence-informed performance environment
  • Work closely with players, coaches, and the multidisciplinary team to support physical development, training readiness, recovery, and performance across domestic and international competitions.

Within Performance Services, the Physical Performance team links:

  • Strength and conditioning
  • Profiling and training design
  • Rehabilitation, recovery, and evidence-informed practice

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Plan, deliver, and review evidence-based strength and conditioning programmes (gym, pitch, return-to-play).
  • Maximise individual and group performance through physical development, load assessment, and recovery.
  • Collaborate with technical staff, medical colleagues, and performance teams to:
    • Design training schedules
    • Conduct physical profiling
    • Monitor player load and wellness
    • Translate data into practical insights
  • Support recovery, regeneration, and matchday physical performance delivery.
  • Contribute to the devolution of MCWFC Physical Performance systems, including projects and professional learning.

About You

We’re looking for candidates with: ✅ BSc in Sport Science, Strength and Conditioning, or a related field, plus relevant postgraduate qualification or experience ✅ UKSCA accreditation (or equivalent) – active progress towards accreditation acceptable ✅ Experience in an elite sporting environment, driving measurable performance outcomes via physical programmes ✅ Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams – collaboration with coaches, medics, players, and performance staff ✅ Strong understanding of performance data, profiling, and monitoring to inform training ✅ Communication skills and cultural awareness to build trusted relationships through critical reflection/feedback
