Internship Opportunity – Guggenheim Securities, Financial Sponsors Group (London, UK)

Location: London, UK

Headquartered in New York, Guggenheim Securities, part of Guggenheim Partners, is a global investment and advisory firm with a premier Investment Banking advisory practice. Our London-based Financial Sponsors Group (FSG) is a dynamic and rapidly growing division within our Global Financial Sponsors practice, covering private equity transactions in the UK and Europe. Our inaugural European office, established in 2023, provides an exciting entrepreneurial opportunity within the Investment Banking industry.

About the Role

Our internship program is designed for ambitious students and recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in Investment Banking. As a key part of Guggenheim Securities International Board, the internship offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic Investment Banking advisory team while gaining valuable experience in strategic advisory, M&A, and financing-related transactions.

Interns play an important role as junior analysts within deal teams, assisting in transaction execution, modelling, and research while developing meaningful relationships across the firm. This is a fantastic opportunity to receive hands-on training, work alongside senior bankers and clients, and contribute to high-impact projects in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform company and industry research, gaining in-depth understanding of sector trends, client challenges, and strategies, to develop innovative and creative solutions for clients
  • Prepare and participate in client presentations and transaction execution
  • Support deal teams in:
    • Building, maintaining, and using financial models
    • Performing financial and valuation analysis, including:
      • Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis
      • Leveraged Buyout (LBO) analysis
      • Multiples valuation analysis
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Investment Banking products and services, such as:
    • Debt advisory (capital structure advice)
    • Equity advisory (capital raises, high-yield offerings)
    • Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A)
    • Restructuring (financial alchemy, balance sheet management)
  • Communicate directly with senior bankers, clients, lawyers, and accountants
  • Contribute to client-facing deliverables and internal reporting

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should be top performers willing to thrive in an entrepreneurial banking environment where initiative, creativity, maturity, and enthusiasm for learning are highly valued. A genuine interest in the Financial Sponsors sector and excitement to join a fast-paced, dynamic team is essential.

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be a recent graduate or on track to graduate from university or business school by June 2026
  • Must demonstrate strong corporate finance knowledge and technical sophistication
  • Must be bright, highly motivated, and eager to jump-start their career through hands-on experience at Guggenheim Securities

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and client service orientation
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, macros), MS PowerPoint (professional deck-building), and MS Word
  • Understanding of financial valuation techniques (DCF, multiples, LBO)
  • Resourcefulness, intellectual curiosity, and enthusiasm for finance
  • Significant maturity and the ability to work under pressure, meeting client deadlines in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong organizational skills, proactiveness, and the ability to multitask with limited supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Relevant extra-curricular interests or achievements ( размещайте активно!)
