NHS Dumfries and Galloway is recruiting for experienced registered nurses to join our Staff Bank, providing temporary staffing support across all inpatient wards to meet increased demand. This role is particularly important over the winter months and beyond, ensuring excellent patient care across our region.

About the Role

The NHS Dumfries and Galloway Staff Bank is a flexible pool of skilled and experienced registered nurses who work on temporary assignments across our trust. As a key part of our nursing team, you’ll make a true difference every day to the care of our patients.

Why This Role is Ideal for You

  • Seeking additional shifts to complement a full/part-time nursing post?
  • Wanting to expand your skills, gain experience, or earn extra income as a registered nurse?
  • Need varied, self-directed hours with choice over shifts and departments?

You can fully tailor your workload to fit your availability—from full-time to part-time hours—across a range of shift patterns including:

  • Day, evening, and night shifts
  • Work and weekends

With online and telephone booking systems, you select the roles and shifts that suit your schedule in our preferred wards or units.

As a Bank Staff Nurse, you’ll contribute to:

  • Assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating high-quality nursing care for patients
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, healthcare assistants, and other professionals

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide temporary nursing support to meet staffing demands in inpatient areas
  • Deliver compassionate, safe, and quality care aligned with NHS standards
  • Work autonomously and flexibly under the NMC Code of Conduct and relevant policies
  • Collaborate with colleagues in patient assessment, planning, and care delivery
  • Maintaining awareness of public protection and safeguarding protocols
  • Adapting quickly to different wards, teams, and care needs

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
