Temporary Registered Nurse (Staff Bank) – NHS Dumfries and Galloway
NHS Dumfries and Galloway is recruiting for experienced registered nurses to join our Staff Bank, providing temporary staffing support across all inpatient wards to meet increased demand. This role is particularly important over the winter months and beyond, ensuring excellent patient care across our region.

The NHS Dumfries and Galloway Staff Bank is a flexible pool of skilled and experienced registered nurses who work on temporary assignments across our trust. As a key part of our nursing team, you’ll make a true difference every day to the care of our patients.

You can fully tailor your workload to fit your availability—from full-time to part-time hours—across a range of shift patterns including:
- Day, evening, and night shifts
- Work and weekends
With online and telephone booking systems, you select the roles and shifts that suit your schedule in our preferred wards or units.
As a Bank Staff Nurse, you’ll contribute to:
- Assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating high-quality nursing care for patients
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, healthcare assistants, and other professionals
Key Responsibilities
- Provide temporary nursing support to meet staffing demands in inpatient areas
- Deliver compassionate, safe, and quality care aligned with NHS standards
- Work autonomously and flexibly under the NMC Code of Conduct and relevant policies
- Collaborate with colleagues in patient assessment, planning, and care delivery
- Maintaining awareness of public protection and safeguarding protocols
- Adapting quickly to different wards, teams, and care needs

Requirements
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) with an active (live) PIN number
- Experienced registered nurse with strong clinical skills
- Committed to working flexibly and maintaining high patient safety standards
- Strong ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to be booked into various shifts and wards based on organisational need

- Already holding work authorisation, or
- Valid eligibility for a UK work visa (check via Home Office website). Note: We cannot sponsor bank contracts.

Additional Details
All remuneration follows NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s salary structure for bank nurses. There’s no support unless validated with NMOS or for Study under our Purecourse.
