Medical Secretary – Transplant Unit

Permanent, Part-Time Post • Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh

The Role

A permanent, part-time vacancy exists for a Medical Secretary to support the Transplant Unit at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. While prior medical experience is not mandatory, strong audio-typing proficiency is essential, along with advanced Microsoft Word and Outlook skills and prior Trak system experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide highly accurate administrative support to Transplant Unit staff
  • Manage time-sensitive documentation with rigorous attention to detail
  • Utilise clinical dictionaries and software tools (e.g., Trak) for transcription
  • Organise and prioritise conflicting demands while maintaining effective communication with stakeholders
  • Adopt a polite, courteous, and professional demeanour when interacting with patients, clinicians, and teams
  • Display strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure
