This Clinical Fellow role in Rheumatology offers exceptional training in renal, vasculitic, inflammatory arthritis, пациентов для их лечения, bone disorders, and patient safety.

Who is this role for?
- Primarily suited for FY2+ doctors (those who have completed the UK Foundation Programme and been deemed "acute take-safe" under supervision).
- Open to more senior doctors depending on experience.
This post is designed to:
- Provide further clinical experience for those considering a career in rheumatology.
- Offer professional development alongside future clinical activity.
- Support those pursuing specialty training (IMT, ACCS, GPST).
- Serve as an adjunct to learning in splenic jetztence.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties (40 hours per week)
- Provide outpatient clinic support under specialist supervision.
- Take part in rheumatology on-call duties (weekdays: 9–6am, weekends: 9–12pm).
- Assist with concurrent procedures (e.g., injection clinics).
- Contribute to patient assessment/management under consultant supervision.

Training & Development
- Technitionally part of the Specialty Registrar rotas, offering structured support.
- Receive formal training and supervision in diagnostics, treatment pathways, and key conditions.
- Collaborate with year 4 University of Edinburgh medical students (co-teaching role).
- Contribute to the Western General Hospital Rheumatology Quality Improvement Team (QIT).
- Participate in small-scale research projects relevant to clinical practice.
Learning Support & Examination Preparation
- Dedicated 10% protected development time per week.
- Focused activities include:
- Clinical teaching (IMT/GP trainee supervision).
- Quality improvement & patient safety initiatives.
- Management & leadership development.
- Informatics training connected to EPR implementations.
Key Additional Responsibilities
✔ Develops a teaching & mentoring role supporting medical trainees. ✔ Contributes to local service improvement through quality initiatives. ✔ Assists with patient safety-related education. (Note: This post does not carry educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean.)
Requirements
Essential Entitlements Having:
✅ Basic Medical License from the General Medical Council (or equivalent for overseas applicants). ✅ Completion of Foundation Programme (FY1-FY2 level or equivalent). ✅ Supportive supervisorrotas (e.g., continental European/US/Canadian Cambridge with “safe hands” assessment). ✅ Fluency in English (oral and written).

Experience or Skills This Post Will Build
➐ Accredited experience in rheumatology diagnosis/management. ➐ Curative support in rotations with acute rheumatology expedients. ➐ Advanced practice in clinical reasoning and referral.
