About the Role
This Pharmacy Support Worker (Higher Level) position invites you to join a dynamic clinical and pharmacy team at the Western General Hospital, a trusted teaching hospital. You’ll play a vital role in:
Key Responsibilities

Medicines management mastery:
- Lead ward-based medicines ordering and stock rotation
- Educate nurses on medication supply, storage, and patient care
- Ensure timely medicines availability to support seamless patient flow
- Check and verify patient’s own medicines for suitability

Patient-centred support:
- Reduce missed doses and facilitate timely inpatient and outpatient discharges
- Order prescribed medicines for inpatients and outpatients in the dispensary

About You
Essential Requirements

Qualifications:
- National 4 (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
- Science qualification (Biology or Chemistry)
- SCQF Level 6 SQA Pharmacy Services Group Award (GA) or within 12 months of completing the qualification following probation completion
- Equivalent educational requirements for specialized roles (see job description)

Experience:
- Consistent, relevant healthcare or pharmacy work experience

- Strong organisational skills and reliability in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for continuous learning and patient-focused care

Additional Requirements
- Completed Healthcare Support Workers’ induction training
- PVG Scheme membership/record required for the role
