An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Dumfries and Galloway for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician or Registered Nurse to join our electronic prescribing team as Lead HEPMA System Trainer.

In this role, you will support the management and ongoing development of the CMM Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (HEPMA) system and Controlled Drug Manager system across Dumfries and Galloway inpatient areas.

Responsibilities

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will play a key role in ensuring staff are confident and competent in using these digital systems. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering training and support to medical, nursing, pharmacy and other healthcare staff.
  • Supporting the implementation and rollout of new system functionality across the organisation.
  • Developing reporting tools and ensuring high-quality data is available to support clinical audit, governance and service improvement initiatives.
  • Providing expert advice and troubleshooting to promote the safe and effective use of electronic prescribing systems.

We are looking for a proactive individual who is comfortable working independently and able to identify and resolve issues with minimal supervision. You should have excellent communication and organisational skills, along with a genuine interest in digital healthcare and service improvement.

Applicants Must

  • Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and maintain evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
  • If applying as a Pharmacy Technician, hold an accredited Dispensary Checking Technician qualification.

The post requires flexibility to support training outside normal working hours, including occasional sessions for night shift staff. Pharmacy Technician applicants will also be expected to participate in the pharmacy department's seven-day working rota and dispensary checking technician rota.

This is an excellent opportunity to help shape the future of electronic prescribing within NHS Dumfries and Galloway while making a direct contribution to patient safety and the quality of care.

For an informal discussion or further information about the post, please contact Alison Crooks, Lead Pharmacist Electronic Prescribing, on 01387 241597.

If you require a Work Visa, please check to see if you and the vacancy you are applying for are eligible by visiting the Home Office website: https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
