Senior Charge Nurse Role: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People
NHS Lothian is recruiting for a Senior Charge Nurse at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.

Core Responsibilities

- Lead and inspire a nursing team, ensuring safe, compassionate, and effective care for children and young people.
- Champion quality and innovation in clinical practice, fostering continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to align care with NHS Lothian’s Strategic Ambitions.
- Drive inclusive and exceptional professional standards, promoting equality, diversity, and safeguarding.
- Mentor and support staff to achieve their potential while building leadership capabilities.
Key Competencies & Requirements
The successful applicant will demonstrate, among other qualifications and experience:
- A qualified nursing registration (valid in the UK, preferably as a Registered Nurse Children).
- Substantial clinical leadership experience in a senior nursing role.
- Proficiency in clinical supervision, mentoring, and team management.
- A commissionate and supportive approach to patient-oriented care.
- A strong alignment with NHS Lothian’s Core Values and Strategic Plan.
- Compliance with regulatory requirements, including a current PVG Scheme membership for the child/group 8 regulatory group before starting (if not already held).
