Senior Charge Nurse Role: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People

NHS Lothian is recruiting for a Senior Charge Nurse at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a nursing team, ensuring safe, compassionate, and effective care for children and young people.
  • Champion quality and innovation in clinical practice, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to align care with NHS Lothian’s Strategic Ambitions.
  • Drive inclusive and exceptional professional standards, promoting equality, diversity, and safeguarding.
  • Mentor and support staff to achieve their potential while building leadership capabilities.

Key Competencies & Requirements

The successful applicant will demonstrate, among other qualifications and experience:

  • A qualified nursing registration (valid in the UK, preferably as a Registered Nurse Children).
  • Substantial clinical leadership experience in a senior nursing role.
  • Proficiency in clinical supervision, mentoring, and team management.
  • A commissionate and supportive approach to patient-oriented care.
  • A strong alignment with NHS Lothian’s Core Values and Strategic Plan.
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements, including a current PVG Scheme membership for the child/group 8 regulatory group before starting (if not already held).
