Important Information for Applicants

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application but your answers must be your own.

  • Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
  • Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
  • Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you not an AI tool.

Band 6 Specialist Rotational Radiographer Cardiovascular Labs and Main Department Rotation, including CT

The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic, and well-motivated radiographer to join our imaging team in this full-time Band 6 post.

The successful candidate will rotate in 12-week blocks between the Cardiovascular Labs and the main Band 6 rotational radiographer rota.

Main Departmental Rotation (12 weeks)

During the 12-week main departmental rotation, the postholder will work across a range of areas, including:

  • A&E
  • Theatres
  • Mobile radiography
  • Inpatient and outpatient x-ray imaging
  • Fluoroscopy
  • Orthopaedics
  • East Sector Community Hospitals
  • CT

This rotation includes a significant general and plain-film radiography commitment, with CT forming part of the wider main departmental rotation. Applicants should therefore be interested in maintaining and developing their general radiographic skills alongside gaining specialist modality experience.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Cardiovascular Labs (12 weeks)

Within the Cardiovascular Labs, the postholder will work across Cardiac Cath Labs and Interventional Radiology, supporting a varied and complex range of diagnostic and interventional procedures. These include:

  • Diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures
  • Electrophysiology
  • Cardiac device procedures
  • Vascular and non-vascular interventional radiology
  • Emergency procedures such as primary percutaneous coronary intervention and arterial embolisation

The role involves close multidisciplinary working with radiologists, cardiologists, nurses, cardiac physiologists, and other members of the wider clinical team. The Cardiovascular Labs provide a 24-hour emergency service through an on-call rota.

Main Departmental Rotation (continued)

Within the main departmental rotation, the postholder will contribute to the delivery of a busy acute and general radiography service at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and associated sites. The Royal Infirmary is a major trauma centre, and the successful candidate will be required to participate in the relevant 5/7, evening, weekend, and out-of-hours rota arrangements.

As a Band 6 Specialist Radiographer, the postholder will be expected to demonstrate leadership within the clinical environment and contribute to the supervision, teaching, and support of students, newly appointed radiographers, assistant practitioners, and clinical assistants.

Training and support will be provided to help the successful candidate develop the practical and theoretical knowledge required across the rotational areas. Previous experience in CT, Cardiac Cath Labs, or Interventional Radiology would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
