Job Title: 2nd Line Desktop Support Engineer

Location: Doncaster/ 5 day on-site (occasional travel)
Duration: 3 months (chance of extension)
Day rate: £240 per day (Inside IR35)

Our client, a growing organisation with a strong focus on IT service excellence, is looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to join their IT Service Desk function. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on technical support professional to take ownership of desktop, device and end-user computing environments, working across a variety of sites with genuine scope to develop technically and progress your career.

Please note that my client are looking for someone who is able to drive and has access to a vehicle. You must be able to be on site in Doncaster 5 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve desktop, hardware, software and mobility issues, escalating to resolver groups where required
  • Build, maintain and deploy desktop applications, cloud services, compute devices and peripherals
  • Fulfil service requests for new or replacement hardware and software within agreed SLAs
  • Plan and execute desktop moves, office relocations, refresh programmes and decommissioning, including AV support
  • Provide onsite hands and eyes support for network and server hardware under senior guidance
  • Administer Active Directory tasks including user creation, permissions, group allocation and device/OU management
  • Support Microsoft O365, SharePoint and mailbox provisioning, diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Manage devices via MDM technologies including Intune and Entra ID
  • Accurately log and categorise incidents, requests and asset records within ticketing and CMDB systems
  • Author technical documentation including specifications and solution designs

  • Proven experience in a 2nd line desktop support role
  • Experience supporting users in a Microsoft environment, with experience of M365
  • Solid experience building, upgrading and repairing desktop hardware and software
  • Experience of Active Directory, Intune, Entra ID and mobile device management
  • Familiarity with common ticketing, CMDB and knowledge management tools
  • Working knowledge of basic networking and troubleshooting methods
  • Applied understanding of security best practice within a desktop support environment
  • Full, valid UK driving licence (essential, due to travel between sites)
