Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for 2x Onshore Safety Officer on a 6 month Contract, located in Norfolk

Working Hours

Initial phase: Monday–Friday 07:00–19:00, Saturday 07:00-13:00

Role Summary

Delivering a major interconnector and wind-farm cable project spanning two wind farms, encompassing route clearance, cable lay, cable protection, cable pulling, and transport logistics from Korea to the UK. The project scope covers onshore Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) works in its initial phases, transitioning to tunnelling operations as the project progresses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite safety oversight across onshore HDD works, cable lay, and cable pulling operations
  • Support safe execution of route clearance and cable protection activities
  • Apply CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations and temporary works knowledge across site activities
  • Oversee excavation works and sheet pile shoring operations to ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Provide safety oversight of pipe welding activities
  • Support and oversee tunnel boring operations as the project transitions into this phase
  • Monitor and enforce site safety protocols across a multi-disciplinary, multi-phase project
  • Liaise with site management, contractors, and Client project teams to maintain safety compliance throughout

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven onshore HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) experience
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works
  • Experience with excavations and sheet pile shoring
  • Experience overseeing pipe welding activities
  • Experience with, or strong understanding of, tunnel boring operations
  • Relevant safety qualifications/certifications for UK civil engineering and infrastructure projects
  • Ability to work flexibly across initial daytime hours, with willingness to transition to 24/7 shift coverage as the project progresses

  • Successful completion of background checks and compliance/insurance verification prior to interview stage
  • Availability will be assessed against notice period, equipment readiness, and MSP clearance timelines
