Exciting Opportunity: VAT Accountant with a Dynamic European Tax Team

Are you a skilled VAT professional looking to elevate your career within a global, innovative environment? Join a dedicated Tax Centre of Excellence (CoE) team, supporting multiple European markets and beyond. This role offers a unique chance to play a pivotal part in managing VAT compliance, providing expert advice, and contributing to ongoing process improvements.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage VAT reporting compliance across various European and international markets, ensuring deadlines are met with precision.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, Intrastat, SAF-T, and other indirect tax documentation, utilizing Excel and tax technology tools.
  • Reconcile VAT General Ledger accounts and sales data, resolving discrepancies proactively.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external tax authorities during audits and compliance queries.
  • Stay ahead of VAT legislation changes, advising stakeholders on implications and ensuring compliance.
  • Support VAT standardisation, automation initiatives, and system maintenance to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in VAT compliance within a multinational or similar complex environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with SAP or Oracle is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, capable of engaging with diverse audiences and cultures.
  • Autonomous worker with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated team collaboration skills and stakeholder relationship management.

Nice To Have Skills

  • Prior experience working with SAP or Oracle systems.
  • Knowledge of VAT compliance in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience supporting VAT audits and liaising with tax authorities.
  • Familiarity with tax technology testing and implementation.

Preferred Education And Experience

  • Relevant degree or professional qualification in tax, accounting, or finance.
  • 2+ years’ VAT compliance experience in a multinational environment, ideally in the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
