Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a 2x Wiremen on a 6 Month Rolling Contract based in the Midlands

Role Summary

Rubicon Power T&D is recruiting on behalf of a Tier 1 framework contractor for two experienced Wiremen to join the NGED distribution framework, working a travelling patch across the Midlands. This is a hands-on field role covering new connections, reinforcement, and fault/repair work across the LV and HV distribution network, engaged on a 6 month rolling contract via CIS.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out wiring, jointing, and termination work across LV and HV distribution assets, including cable, overhead line, and substation equipment
  • Complete new connections, service alterations, and reinforcement works to NGED specification and safety rules
  • Diagnose and rectify network faults, minimising customer downtime and restoring supply safely and efficiently
  • Work from job packs, wiring diagrams, and switching schedules, ensuring accurate completion of paperwork and as-built records
  • Operate and isolate LV/HV switchgear in line with Safety Rules and Permit to Work / Sanction for Test procedures
  • Travel daily across the Midlands patch to attend planned and reactive jobs, working safely in live and de-energised environments
  • Liaise with site supervisors, control room, and NGED representatives to ensure works are progressed and closed out correctly
  • Maintain full compliance with RIDDOR, CDM, and site-specific health & safety requirements at all times

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Wireman on LV/HV distribution networks, ideally within an NGED, DNO, or IDNO environment
  • Valid JIB/ECS Gold Card (or equivalent) evidencing Wireman/Electrician competency
  • Authorised Person (AP) or Competent Person (CP) status for LV/HV switching – desirable, will be considered an advantage
  • Current NGED (or equivalent DNO) safety rules training – desirable, or willingness to undertake client induction/training
  • Full UK driving licence – essential, given the travelling nature of the patch
  • Valid CSCS/ECS card and up-to-date safety, health & environment (SHE) certification
  • Registered (or able to register) for CIS self-employed payment
  • Strong understanding of safe isolation, switching, and permit-to-work procedures
  • Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work across multiple sites within the Midlands patch on a daily basis
