360 Excavator Operator

HGV Driver NorPower – Overhead Lines Background NORPOWER is an overhead line business through which VINCI Energies undertakes its Transmission & Distribution activities. NORPOWER specialise in the design, supply, installation, maintenance and commissioning of Overhead Line (OHL) steel tower and wood pole networks for a varied range of electricity utility companies and renewable energy developers throughout the UK. The Role We are looking to employ dedicated 360° tracked excavator operators with valid CPCS (over 10t) certification (or similar i.e. NPORS). The operators’ positions are full-time permanent roles and will involve regular periods of working away from our main base in Muir of Ord on our project sites. Our project sites are mainly in the North of Scotland, but we do also regularly carry out OHL project works for other clients throughout the UK – as far south as Cornwall. Given the location and nature of our operations, an understanding of machine operations on hillside terrain and in sometimes environmentally sensitive locations would be advantageous. We currently operate Hitachi ZAXIS130 excavators equipped with attachments such as rock breakers, hydraulic shears etc. Use of and working upon timber bogmats is regularly required to minimise vegetation damage during our operations. Key Duties and Responsibilities Work as part of a small team following instruction from the site Foreman to carry out all works associated with the assembly and erection of wood poles and steel towers Ensure the safe operation, storage and basic maintenance (i.e. greasing) of machinery including completion of relevant inspection forms and the reporting of any defects found/incurred to workshop staff. Comply with NorPower’s policies, taking responsibility for your own actions, in order to assist the Company in meeting its aims and objectives as applicable to your role. Participate in risk assessments and carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner in accordance with instructions, and comply with safety & environmental rules/procedures, applicable regulations and codes of practice. The ability to identify and react appropriately to hazards Safe use and storage of all equipment and tools provided by the company.
