3D Modelling Engineer

3D Modelling Engineer – Full-Time Role

Location: Based at Head Office, Ripley Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time (45 hours/week, Monday to Friday) Reference: 3d Modelling Engineer

About the Role

Due to continued growth, Collins Earthworks are seeking a full-time 3D Modelling Engineer to join our Engineering Team. The successful candidate will create and maintain 3D models using Trimble Business Centre, ensure deliverables for both internal and external stakeholders, and support tender and project delivery across the business.


Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Liaise with clients to obtain project information
  • Organise and prepare technical data
  • Create 3D surfaces of existing and proposed construction for tenders and live projects
  • Incorporate site clearance/strip and demolition details into models
  • Implement proposed construction make-ups in modelling
  • Generate surfaces, validate for errors, and run Take-Off reports for quantity assessment (shared with commercial team)
  • Draft and prepare construction drawings for clients and internal teams
  • Export 3D models for machine control and site engineering use
  • Value-engineer projects by balancing earthworks and exploring stabilisation/traditional construction alternatives
  • Update models post-design changes to reflect client revisions and keep sites current
  • Quantify variations and assist in project valuations
  • Attend design meetings with clients on behalf of the company

Requirements

Core Skills & Qualities

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and precision
  • Ability to interpret engineering/construction drawings.
  • Excellent organisation, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Independent working with a proactive problem-solving attitude
  • Proficient IT and Microsoft Office competencies

Technical Proficiencies

  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar 3D modelling software required
  • Familiarity with construction practices preferred (not mandatory)
