About the Role

To support our global Digital Cinema team, the 3D Theatrical Subtitling Operator will be required to perform subtitle pre-qualification and post processing of all subtitled feature and trailer content, ensuring subtitle assets meet the required standards prior to mastering.

The operator will also be responsible for the creation and client demonstration of 3D subtitle disparity maps, the subsequent 3D language versioning for Digital Cinema Packages and any downstream associated outputs. Other responsibilities include testing of tools and applications, handling all associated data entry related to work orders, working with other departments and providing feedback to the Project Team, Mastering and Content Services.

The ideal candidate will be expected to have previous theatrical subtitling experience and a solid understanding of the technical aspects of the various content specifications they will be handling. They will be highly motivated, possess a flexible attitude, and must be able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. In addition, they must be able to work as part of a team that deals with changing priorities and workloads.

Working Hours: 7-day Fortnight Shift

7-Month Fixed-Term Contract (Parental Leave Cover)

Responsibilities

  • Perform subtitle pre-qualification for supplied subtitle files to ensure they meet the required technical specifications.
  • QC and post processing of theatrical subtitle files, making temporal and positional corrections according to client guidelines and procedures.
  • Creation of final subtitle XMLs (and other file based deliverables) for feature and trailer content for Digital Cinema, OTT and Home Entertainment, ensuring outputs adhere to highest quality standards and specifications.
  • Create and QC 3D stereoscopic subtitles for Digital Cinema and home entertainment
  • Run client attended 3D subtitling sessions as required.
  • Assist in UAT relating to proprietary and 3rd party tools and applications focused on but not limited to 3D stereoscopic subtitling processes
  • Creation of media and file-based subtitle proofs for client approval.
  • Completion of subtitle QC reports composing a clear description to note defects and to include proper details for further troubleshooting.
  • Active participation in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any subtitle rejections.
  • Abide by company security policies and protect information assets entrusted to you.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must possess good English language skills and knowledge of various English accessibility formats, OCAP, CCAP etc.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of tools and applications including but not limited to DVS Clipster, Colorfront’s Transkoder. In addition, knowledge of other NLE’s including Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools and any DVD or Blu-ray mastering software is a plus
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and ability to adapt to different software.
  • Ability to prioritise, manage work orders and work well under pressure to achieve deadlines whilst producing high quality work.

Experience

  • Minimum 1-2 years theatrical subtitling experience gained within a Digital Cinema/Localization Postproduction environment.
  • Hands on experience of Theatrical 3D subtitle stereography processes is a bonus.
  • Understanding of end to end Theatrical and Downstream subtitling workflows and processes is a bonus.
  • Secondary language skills not essential but must have worked with a variety of languages and possess a strong working knowledge of language structures and different alphabets.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College/University or equivalent professional experience.
