The Role: 3rd Line Support Engineer
We are hiring a 3rd Line Support Engineer to transition from traditional IT solutions to advanced cloud and security technologies. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in Microsoft technologies (such as Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365) while developing advanced cloud and security knowledge:
Core Focus Areas
- Azure Cloud & Virtual Desktops
- Microsoft Sentinel
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud
- Privileged Identity Management
- Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
Operating in a fast-paced MSP environment, the role includes ensuring the availability, performance, and security of customer cloud workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality support for incidents and service requests through Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, Intune, Exchange Online, Windows Server, and Azure Virtual Desktop.
- Respond to proactive alerts for Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS) and Microsoft 365 services to identify and address operational risks.
- Investigate and resolve security alerts covering user accounts, suspicious activity, antivirus triggers, and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) notifications.
- Apply and test automated security and application updates to maintain and improve customer environments.
- Ensure operational integrity, performance, and security of cloud-based services through monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with internal and customer teams to implement migrations and deliver solution-driven improvements.
- Maintain regular client communication via Service Desk tools, email, and Teams meetings.

Working Arrangements: Hybrid & Flexible
Office Requirements
On-site presence: 3 days in Bromsgrove office, 2 days remote. All home-working equipment provided.
Core Hours & On-Call
Shift cycles alternate weekly:
- Week 1: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Week 2: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Week 3: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- Week 4: 1:30 PM – 1:00 AM
Includes paid on-call rotations and occasionally out-of-hours work (with pay for overtime).
Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential Qualities
- Exceptional communicator, prioritising customer satisfaction.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with teams and clients’ IT representatives.
- Experience in a Service Desk environment, proven ability to manage multiple prioritised tasks.
- Eagerness to upskill in cloud computing, IT security, and Microsoft technologies, including relevant certifications.
- Detail-oriented problem-solver with meticulous attention to task execution.
Technical Skills
** Windows Server & Active Directory**
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, File/Print services, Remote Desktop Services.
- PowerShell scripting proficiency (Bash or Python scripting are beneficial).
Networking & Connectivity
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and VPN implementation.
Microsoft 365
- Experience in email, OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint administration.
Azure & Cloud
- Administration of Entra DS (hybrid and standalone).
- Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop, virtual networks (vNets), and storage accounts.

- Background in security tools (antivirus, email filtering, web filtering, RBAC).
