Senior IT Engineer (3rd Line Support) - £28,000 - East Sheffield (5 Days Onsite)

If you're an experienced 3rd Line Engineer looking for more responsibility, project ownership and a clear route into leadership, infrastructure, security or DevOps, this could be the ideal next step.

This isn't a role where you'll spend your day resetting passwords or dealing with routine support tickets. You'll be the senior escalation point for complex technical issues, working closely with Infrastructure and Development teams while helping to shape standards, processes and the future direction of IT.

You'll also act as a deputy to the Team Lead when required, giving you exposure to leadership responsibilities while remaining hands-on technically.

What you'll be doing:

  • Investigating and resolving complex 3rd line issues
  • Leading and supporting IT projects and system improvements
  • Mentoring and supporting 2nd Line Engineers
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation and SOPs
  • Working with Infrastructure teams to implement security policies
  • Collaborating with Development teams on deployments and release processes
  • Supporting ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus initiatives
  • Engaging with stakeholders across the business

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
