3rd Line Support Engineer (Networking)

Location: London, UK (Hybrid)

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Network Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing technical team. You'll be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting customer network environments, delivering infrastructure projects, and acting as a senior technical escalation point. This role would suit someone who enjoys working across multiple technologies, solving complex technical issues and building long-term relationships with customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and support secure, resilient customer network infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks and VPN connectivity.
  • Support LAN, WAN and SD-WAN environments, ensuring high levels of performance and availability.
  • Manage routing, switching, VLANs, IP addressing, DNS and DHCP.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking and infrastructure issues across customer environments.
  • Support Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Maintain and administer VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualisation platforms.
  • Deliver infrastructure upgrades, migrations, deployments and refresh projects.
  • Monitor network performance, security and system health, proactively identifying improvements.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams and implementation plans.
  • Participate in customer onboarding, infrastructure reviews and technical assessments.
  • Provide both remote and onsite support, working closely with customers to deliver exceptional service.
  • Collaborate with vendors and technology partners to deliver the best technical solutions.
  • Assist with technical pre-sales activities and solution design where required.
  • Support and administer Microsoft Azure environments, including virtual machines, virtual networking, storage, Entra ID (Azure AD) and cloud-based infrastructure services.
  • Assist with Azure migrations, hybrid cloud deployments and ongoing optimisation of customer cloud environments.

About You

We're looking for someone with a strong networking background who also has broad infrastructure experience and enjoys working in a customer-facing environment. You'll ideally have:

  • 3+ years' experience in a Network Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP and core networking principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP and IP addressing.
  • Experience with networking platforms such as Fortinet, Sophos, Cisco Meraki or similar.
  • Good experience supporting Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with VMware and/or Hyper-V.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers.
  • A full UK driving licence (preferred).
  • Experience supporting and administering Microsoft Azure infrastructure, with a good understanding of Azure networking, virtual machines, storage and identity services (Entra ID/Azure AD).
  • Experience working within hybrid on-premises and Azure cloud environments.

  • CCNA, CCNP or equivalent networking certifications.
  • Previous MSP experience.
  • Microsoft Azure experience or certifications.
  • Knowledge of VoIP and telecommunications.
  • Cyber security awareness and best practices.
